Signing Ceremony between TADTP & NADCP And Certificate of Appointment Ceremony
TADTP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP), the largest professional organization for the treatment court model in the United States, on June 14, 2019. Currently TADTP is the only organization in Taiwan that collaborates with the NADCP. In order to promote drug judicial treatment reform in Taiwan, TADTP once again collaborates with the NADCP. This time it has obtained an authorization to translate relevant works on drug treatment courts, that introduce the core principles of USA drug treatment courts and hopefully will also become a useful reference for Taiwan’s practical work. The authorization was signed by the newly appointed chairman of TADTP Prof. Lee Sheng-Chieh from College of Law, National Chengchi University and Mr. Carson Fox, Chief Executive Director of NADCP. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the partnership between TADTP and NADCP.
The translation authorization includes three key documents: "Defining Drug Courts: The Key Components", originally published by NADCP in 1997 (2004 revised), as well as the "Adult Drug Court Best Practice Standards, Volume I & II" published in 2013 and 2015. The documents are important because they establish a unified set of goals and directions for implementing drug treatment courts across the United States. Indeed, many US states have already adopted them as standard guidelines for training, certification, and funding of new and existing drug treatment courts.

TADTP is also extremely honored to have invited drug judicial treatment experts and scholars from the United States, Japan, and Germany to serve as our international consultants. For this we held an International Consultants Certification Ceremony at the Regent Hotel (Taipei) on May 1, 2023. The certificates were awarded by chairman of TADTP Prof. Lee Sheng-Chieh from College of Law, National Chengchi University.
Renown experts and scholars – Carson Fox, Chief Executive Director of NADCP; Judge Christine Carpenter and Judge Jeffrey Manske from NADCP; Thomas Harrigan, Director of DEA Educational Foundation in United States; Professor Ishizuka Shinichi from the Faculty of Law at Ryukoku University in Japan; and Professor Jörg Kinzig from the Institute of Criminology at University of Tübingen in Germany – will help us with their professional and academic knowledge to delve deeper into the international drug judicial treatment practices, their unique features, and effectiveness. With this, we aim to foster an international exchange and enhance the development of our country’s drug judicial treatment practices.
